How do I Find or Reset the controller PIN? (formally the Generator Password)?
If you are adding a generator manually to the Kohler Energy Management app, the generator serial number and the controller PIN are required to connect your generator to the app.
Note: To retrieve your controller PIN from the generator, you must reset the controller PIN (generator password). At that time, a new controller PIN will be generated.
When the controller PIN (generator password) is reset on the controller, the connection to the internet will be lost. Anyone monitoring this generator on both the Kohler Energy Management app for homeowners and the Kohler Energy Management PRO app for dealers will need the updated controller PIN to reconnect their generator to their app.
Follow this procedure if you own the following:
RESA/RESC/RCL/RESV/VSG/RCA(L) Models with RDC2 or VSC Controller
- Press Select (circle between the arrows) and then press the down arrow button to navigate to the Network Information.
- Press Select. Networking Status is displayed.
- Press the Down arrow button. Networking Configuration is displayed.
- Press Select. Reset OnCue Password is displayed.
- Press and HOLD the Select button until Reset OnCue Password? No appears. The word No will flash.
- Press the Up arrow button to change the word No to Yes.
- The generator set serial number and new password will be displayed for 10 seconds. Be sure to write down the new password for entry into OnCue Plus.
- The procedure is now complete.
Previous ONCUE Plus User Signup Procedure
Step 1 – Download the new KOHLER Home Energy App
Step 2 – Once Open Click the Sign up at the bottom it is written in small text!
Step 3 – Once account is created and you have activated your account with the email you will be back into the application were it says to add a generator, there is 2 steps to add the generator to your account (Option 1 using generator PIN and Serial Number) or (Option 2 Using your old Oncue Plus Account to import your account information.
To import your account information from ONCUE Plus simply click on the Tap Here to add generator from Oncue located bellow the Controller Pin Text Box, this will then open a new page were you will then be able to login with your old ONCUE plus account by entering your old login information used in ONCUE Plus. Once login it will show your generator and some information that you will need to confirm and verify once all this information has been confirmed click next and this will now confirm and add your generator to the new KOHLER ENERGY APP., If you have any issue with anything related with the new KOHLER app please contact KOHLER Support there information is located at the bottom of this page. I Reset my controller Pin and I am still not able to add my generator. What do I do?
On occasion a customer may need to troubleshoot or perform routine updates to the controller to ensure proper connectivity between their generator, controller, and the KOHLER Energy Management ecosystem.
To troubleshoot and restore connectivity across all your KOHLER Home Energy products, we recommend the following options (in priority order).
Option 1: Click to Reboot your Controller from the Touchscreen
If your Controller is one of the newer versions, the ability to Reboot your Controller will be possible right from the touch screen.
If this is not an option, then proceed to Option 2.
Option 2: Update the Controller Firmware
Review the Firmware documentation here to begin the update.
Option 3: Complete Controller System Reboot
Follow the below steps to completely reboot the Controller on your standby generator.
- Press the OFF button.
- Press the Down arrow button until you see the words “Reboot Controller” on the screen.
- Press and hold the Select (Looks like a bullseye) button for 3 seconds.
- The word “NO” should appear in the screen.
- Press the UP arrow Button to change the “NO” to a “YES”.
- Press the Select button.
- When Language “English” appears press the Select button.
- You will need to verify the “Date and Time”.
- Press the Select button.
- If the Date and Time are correct Press the Select until nothing is flashing.
- If anything is not correct press the Select button to get to that area that is not correct
- Use the “up” and “down” arrow key to change.
- Press the Select when change is done.
- You also need to verify the “Exercise Time”.
